Diesel cycle || Air standard cycle ||Thermodynamics Part -09

    Air standard  cycle :

Diesel cycle : Diesel engine work on the diesel cycle and it consist of two isentropic process and one isobaric process , one  isochoric process .

Isentropic process : Compression process : Air is compress at isentropic process

Isobaric process : Heat addition , increasing pressure of gas at isobaric process

Isentropic process : Expansion process , Where fuel and compressed air contact so fuel will burn and produce heat and pressure so power will generate .

Isochoric process : Where the exhausted gas is remove from combustion chamber at isochoric process

Below diagram between pressure and volume & entropy and temperature

Efficiency of diesel cycle : Output / Input

Where the r is compression ratio and rc is cutt off ratio

Compression ration for diesel cycle 12-16
Compression ratio for petrol engine  5-6
Compression ratio for dual cycle  6-8
